NEW EDITION-Now Available!

We are pleased to announce the printing of the new revised edition of Ladin Popov’s book, The Fugitive.

This 176 page paper-back includes an introduction from Ladin’s brother, (the late) Haralan Popov, additional information from his nephew Paul H. Popov, including new details of Ladin’s miraculous escape from Bulgaria. This edition also includes pictures!

Nestled within the pages of this book is the incredible story of a life of suffering and wandering.

Pastor Ladin Popov, was arrested by the communist Bulgarian Secret Police in 1948. His brother Haralan had been arrested just days before. In the infamous show trial on March 8, 1949, of 15 pastors known as “The Pastor’s Trial,” Ladin was found guilty and sentenced to five years imprisonment. During the eight months of “preparation” (torture) to confess in the trial, Ladin was the only pastor who stood firm and did not confess to being a spy. BBC claimed he was the “hero” of the trial.

Even after his release from prison, Ladin’s life wasn’t easy. He became a fugitive, harassed and chased by the Bulgarian Secret Service for fifteen years until his eventual escape in 1967 into Sweden, with the help of a fast porsche and his brother’s children.
