Memoirs of a Bible Smuggler

This is a true story how a young Texas couple helped Door of Hope International smuggle thousands of Bibles to persecuted Christians behind the Iron Curtain.

“FROM THE DAYS OF TYNDALE TILL TODAY BIBLE smuggling has been controversial as well as dangerous. Not many people are brave enough to venture into this often-perilous calling. Jeana Kendrick and her husband Jeff headed our Bible smuggling division. Their interesting and well-written story is a story of success in which they witness the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1989.” Paul H. Popov, President – Door of Hope International

Memoirs of a Bible Smuggler is a true story set during the Cold War, an era when Christians who resisted the Communists’ godless decrees faced prison or death. A naïve housewife from the Piney Woods of Texas, Jeana dreamed of being a Bible smuggler. She, and her husband Jeff, began praying an extra hour in the evenings. They were soon overseas, smuggling Bibles to Christians hungry for God’s Word.

Through Door of Hope International, the Kendricks developed a network of trained couriers to deliver Bibles. Carpenters, bankers, nurses and others gave up their vacations to help smuggle thousands of Bibles to believers behind the Iron Curtain. God was faithful and through His grace the Kendricks overcame obstacles and won victories that enriched their lives and those of countless others.

Jeana Kendrick’s recent book Memoirs of a Bible Smuggler is the true story of her experiences delivering Bibles behind the Iron Curtain. Her novel St. Abient Run, a contemporary European intrigue, the first in a Conspiracy series, was published by Panther Creek Press in 2002 and a revised second edition is scheduled for publication in 2021 as well its sequel The Paris Conspiracy. Her short stories are in Fall From Innocence, Page One Publications, and in Suddenly, Suddenly II and Suddenly IV, Martin House. Kendrick’s novel The Last Bridge Across Mostar is also slated for publication this year.
