Millions of children around the world live in extreme poverty. Abandoned, orphaned and homeless, these young ones are exposed to
hunger, disease, physical abuse and exploitation by criminal gangs. |

How we can help? |
DOHI is dedicated to helping “Children at Risk” in Eastern European
countries. Child sponsorship helps us provide long term support to children who have very little family or none at all. It can be a richly rewarding experience for
sponsors.
Your gifts will provide necessities such as a safe haven for children who are orphaned or at risk, nutritious meals,
health care and education at our ministry centers in Eastern Europe where the children are nurtured by loving Christian workers and encouraged to develop a
personal relationship with Christ. |

Sponsoring a child |
For a regular, monthly gift of $30.00 that is fully tax-deductible, you can help a desperately needy child in Eastern
Europe, receive the loving care he or she needs and deserves.
Sponsorship can be the beginning of a very special and close relationship between you and your sponsored child as
well as an opportunity to learn about another culture and way of life.
We will send you a photograph and details about your sponsored child as well as a yearly update to let you know how
your child is progressing. We also encourage you to write brief, simple letters to your child and send photos, postcards, birthday, Easter and Christmas cards and
small gifts. |
How sponsorship benefits your child? |
Funds raised through child sponsorship will be used to provide your sponsored child with:
- a safe shelter, where needed
- nutritious food
- clothing, medical and other needs
- education
- loving Christian guidance
As many of the children we minister to come from very poor environments where they are often abused, exploited or
mistreated, the funds raised through child sponsorship are channeled through trusted DOHI co-workers in these countries, to make sure that your support is used as
mentioned above. |

How long can I support my sponsored child? |
Our goal is to provide help to our sponsored children until they are no longer “at risk”.
Many parents of children we minister to, come to know the Lord as their personal Savior and are then able to
take proper care of their children again. Other children finish their education and find jobs to support themselves. Through child sponsorship these young ones learn
about God’s love and faithful care for them and are guided into making proper choices for themselves and their future families. |
What if I must discontinue my sponsorship? |
If you are unable to continue sponsoring your child, please write and let us know. We will do our best to find
another sponsor for your child. You are under no obligation to continue with child sponsorship if you are not able to do so, however, we do encourage long-term
commitments where possible, as this gives you and your child a better opportunity to grow to know and understand one another. |
Can I send a monetary gift to my sponsored child? |
Financial gifts sent through the regular postal system may not reach your child. We strongly urge you to channel any
additional gifts, over and above your regular monthly sponsorship contribution, through Door of Hope International. We will do our utmost to ensure that your gift
reaches your child. Other small, non-financial gifts, may be mailed either directly to your child or to our ministry center in your child’s community, where local
staff will be happy to ensure that your child receives the gifts. |
How much of the $30.00 actually goes to my sponsored child? |
Child sponsorship funds are used by Door of Hope International to provide for the material and spiritual needs of
your sponsored child. In most cases, funds are not given directly to your child. Many children experience physical and other abuse from family members and any
financial help given directly to the child, may be forcibly taken away.
Our local ministry workers visit individual families, access the needs of each child carefully, and decide what is
the best method of ministering to your sponsored child. Some children live full-time at our children’s centers in Eastern Europe. Other children live with their
families, but attend our daily soup kitchens and other activities. |
