Eritrea is a country almost unknown in the West. It is seldom in the news. Yet once it was a great empire equal to China, Persia, and Rome. It was formally known as Punt, land of the gods, but converted to Christianity in the fourth century. It was the first country to print a cross on its coins. Christianity was its main religion and the country prospered.

In the heart of Bulgaria, in its capital Sofia, Door of Hope has two operational feeding centers for street children, plus another one in the countryside town of Chirpan. At the center in Chirpan, 230 Gypsy and Turkish children ranging from seven to 14-years-old are fed.
